I believe in dance class as a space where we can honor the bodies that we have and learn to use them more efficiently and joyfully. As an educator, I am skilled at creating an environment of trust and co-creation in which students feel free to take risks and embolden their artistry. My classes explore technique through accessible yet rigorous anatomical explorations, improvisational prompts, and choreographic material. My teaching is resourced from my study of and continued engagement with a variety of dance forms and somatic modalities including Body Mind Centering, Pilates, Feldenkrais, contact improvisation, release technique, house, and modern and post-modern dance forms. I emphasize the use of weight, momentum, and breath in support of full bodied physicality. I offer explorations of form and function that help expand the students’ capacity for creative articulation as movers. My classes aim to empower individuals by deepening anatomical knowledge and proprioceptive activation through somatic inquiry and exploration.
